Organisational Licences for Southern Water and South East Water
We’re pleased to have Southern Water and South East Water on board as part of our Organisational Licensing scheme. The scheme is on course to provide a more streamlined route to great crested newt licensing for water infrastructure projects in England.
This follows NatureSpace’s established Organisational Licences with Network Rail and National Highways, bringing the same strategic approach into the water sector.
Southern Water and South East Water have worked with us and our partnership of national experts to create bespoke licensing frameworks, which can cover anything from small maintenance and renewal projects to larger water infrastructure development projects.
The new(t) schemes are open for business
We run and operate the scheme as the Delivery Partner on behalf of Southern Water and South East Water.
If you are interested in using the scheme, or simply wish to find out the likelihood of your project requiring newt licence cover, you can contact our team via water@naturespaceuk.com and the online forms for Southern Water and South East Water.
A project in East Sussex has already become the first to receive Authorisation to work under Southern Water’s new licence.
Key features
- A framework for certainty: Each project has a clear route forward. A rapid enquiry process determines whether licensing is required; projects that need licensing then have access to a streamlined and proportionate licence option with guaranteed timescales.
- Evidence-based mapping: a traffic-light Impact Risk Map supports instant risk screening for projects – with no requirement for newt surveys.
- High-quality conservation delivery: habitat creation, management and monitoring is delivered by the Newt Conservation Partnership and secured for at least 25 years. Find out more about our conservation strategy.
