The NatureSpace District Licensing Scheme is Expanding!
Nine more Local Planning Authorities have obtained their licence and are open for applications now!
The new areas which will be covered by the scheme include Cherwell District Council, Cotswold District Council, Cheltenham Borough Council, Forest of Dean District Council, Gloucester City Council, South Northamptonshire Council, Tewkesbury Borough Council, Stroud District Council and West Oxfordshire District Council.
‘District Licensing’ removes all the uncertainties and delays of the old licensing system, as there’s no need for newt surveys and no separate licence application to Natural England.
For the payment of a fixed licence fee, calculated according to the impact of the development on newts, the developer is provided with a certificate which is accepted by the Planning Authority as meeting all the developer’s great crested newt responsibilities.
The scheme pays for a conservation strategy that creates four new ponds for every newt pond lost, bringing huge benefits for great crested newts and lots of other wildlife.
The whole process is quick, simple, certain and sustainable. NatureSpace will be delivering this scheme in partnership with Local Planning Authorities in many parts of England.
